1. Summary
The app does not collect personal data from you or your device. Your information is not sent to the developer, not shared with third parties and not used for advertising or tracking.
The app does not ask you to create an account and contains no analytics, advertising or crash-reporting services.
2. Local network access
To find and control your TV, the app connects to devices on the local network you are on. This is why iOS asks for "Local Network" permission on first launch. Without it the app cannot find the TV; you can change it in iOS Settings > Kumanda.
Communication with the TV stays on your local network (LG webOS ports 3000 and 3001). To turn the TV on remotely, a "Wake-on-LAN" packet is broadcast on your network. This traffic does not leave your network.
The TV uses its own self-signed encryption certificate. The app accepts it only for connections to a local-network IP address.
3. Data stored on your device
The following is stored only in the app's storage on your phone and never leaves the device:
- Your TV's local IP address and MAC address (for remote power-on)
- The access key the TV issues when pairing
- Your favorite channels, theme and language preferences
- App icons and logo images downloaded for display (cache)
4. Internet use: channel logos
Channel logos are downloaded from a public image repository (github.com and raw.githubusercontent.com) and cached on the device. The request contains only the image file for the channel name; it sends no identity, location or TV information. As with any internet request, GitHub can see your IP address.
No other internet requests are made.
5. Third parties
The app contains no analytics, advertising, crash-reporting or similar third-party services or SDKs. LG and webOS are trademarks of LG Electronics; Kumanda is not affiliated with or endorsed by LG.
6. Permissions used
The app uses only the "Local Network" permission. It does not request location, contacts, photos, camera, microphone or notifications.
7. Children's privacy
Because the app collects no personal data, it collects none from children either. The app is rated 4+.
8. Deleting your data
Deleting the app removes everything stored on the device. The developer holds no data about you, so no separate deletion request is needed.
9. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the new version is published on this page and the update date at the top changes. If a feature that collects data is ever added, this page is updated first.
